Whether working from home is a dream finally come true or your staffs' worst nightmare, the virtual workplace, in some form, is here to stay. With the rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus comes the critical need for physical distancing and isolation to "flatten the curve" before the pandemic is completely out of control. Working from home, where possible, is the only way to protect our teams.
Why should you attend?
What does this mean for how each of them will continue to be productive and happy in this new normal workplace culture? And as a team leader, how can you help your staff maintain their passion and keep their drive to succeed alive while sitting on the couch in a tiny apartment or at the kitchen table with kids nearby begging for treats? How do you communicate appreciation, value and commitment to them long distance?
One of the biggest barriers is the lack of opportunity for those short chance encounters that happen naturally when we work in the same location (in the break room, stopping at each other's desks, sitting together in the conference room waiting for a meeting to start). All of these provide the occasion to be able to chat for a few minutes, "check in" and see how your teammates are doing. These "unscheduled" opportunities, it appears, now have to be "scheduled."
While recognition or communicating appreciation in long-distance work relationships takes time and forethought, it can and must be done. This 60-minute session is packed with practical ideas for demonstrating commitment, value and appreciation ---ideas you can put into practice immediately!
